The House of the Knights
The Municipal Art Gallery of Litomyšl is located in the ancient House of the Knights, which is one of the oldest and highly-prized town buildings. Thanks to its well-preserved original decoration of the facade and part of the interior, the house ranks among the jewels of Renaissance urban architecture in Bohemia.
The Town Picture Gallery
The Town Picture Gallery is currently closed due to the reconstruction of the castle. You can read about its history, which is inherently linked to the existence of the Litomyšl Town Gallery, in the following text. The Litomyšl Town Gallery has a history of almost a century, during which it has changed its founder and its headquarters several times. The Towh PIcture Gallery located in the castle was its first exhibition hall.

LITOMYŠL TOWN GALLERY
The main purpose and object of our activity is derived from the Charter of Incorporation:
“… In accordance with Act No. 122/2000 Coll. on the protection of museum collections The Litomyšl Town Gallery creates, manages, processes, treats, protects and safely preserves collections of material documents on the history of society and culture, especially works of art, and other documentation as sources of knowledge. Through the creation of exhibitions, publications, lectures and programmes, it introduces the public to contemporary and past visual arts and to the knowledge gained through its professional activities…” (Article 2 of the Gallery’s Charter)
