CONDITIONS FOR PROVIDING PHOTOGRAPHIC DOCUMENTATION

The Town Gallery Litomyšl provides photo documentation of collection objects in digital form free of charge for scientific and study purposes (final bachelor, diploma or dissertation theses, professional scientific studies) and also for catalogues and printed materials related to exhibitions for which some of the works from the MGL collection are loaned.

For publication purposes (independent studies, monographs), the provision of photographic documentation is subject to a fee. A one-time use of a photograph for these purposes is subject to a fee of CZK 500. If photodocumentation of an artwork that has not yet been professionally digitised is requested for publication purposes, an additional amount of CZK 800 is charged for digitisation. The fee is charged by invoice or cash.

All photographic documentation from the MGL collection is provided to the applicant on the basis of a licence agreement in which the applicant undertakes to use the photographic material only for the purpose for which it was provided and not to provide it to a third party.

The reproduction area must not be cut out, the reproduced object must not be covered by overprinting or otherwise altered.

The applicant is always obliged to provide basic information about the exhibit (name of the author, title of the work, date, name of the photographer, if applicable) and information that the work comes from the collection of the Litomyšl Town Gallery.

Works by living artists and artists whose passing is less than 70 years ago are protected by copyright and cannot be used without the consent of the author or heirs. It is the applicant’s responsibility to secure the copyright to reproduce such artwork.

Any further use of the photographic material (additional editions, etc.) not specified in the original application is subject to the conclusion of a further licence agreement.
